CountyQuest is partnership between the Museums of Prince Edward County, Infolink and Icon Media Productions Inc of Consecon, ON, Canada. CountyQuest was produced with funding in part from Prince Edward Lennox and Addington Community Futures Development Corporation and The Friends of Wellington Museum, along with the support of the Museums of the County, Infolink and Icon Media Productions and the Cultural Round Table of Prince Edward County.
CountyQuest was created and developed by Paul Lang of Icon Media Productions and his late wife and partner, Leslie Adey, as an enduring way for all to honour and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Prince Edward County.
The concept for CountyQuest comes from a British tradition called “letterboxing” in which participants search for a place of historical interest using written clues. In CountyQuest participants learn about places of interest in Prince Edward County by listening to interviews with long-time County using an mp3 player. Tom Leighton provides an inspiring score for all the interviews.
The first season offer ten self-guided CountyQuest tours in a variety of locations around Prince Edward County. Each CountyQuest tour contains between four and eight stops and an hour of interviews. The average duration of each tour including travel is approximately two hours. You can take the CQ Tours on a bicycle, motorcycle or by car and you can also walk between various sections of each tour.
